About Milena
My approach
As a practitioner I employ an integrative approach to psychological therapy that includes existential and cognitive behavioural approaches (namely Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
Existential analysis firmly focuses on life issues in a philosophical manner. Main themes in existential analyses are anxiety and despair, alienation and freedom, choice and responsibility, moods and emotions, authenticity and inauthenticity, death and nothingness, meaning and absurdity.
Existential psychotherapy considers that struggle with these core themes of existence can provoke anxiety and depression, and that well-being is connected to an understanding and effective acceptance of these life realities. It may sound a bit of a mouthful, yet it is actually a very down to earth approach with a pretty realistic outlook.
Over your course of therapy I will assist you with examining your life struggles as you experience them and guide you in becoming aware of your strengths and weaknesses, your relational patterns, your past experiences, present circumstances and future desires, your potential and limitations.
The whole process is designed to do this through dialogue, thought provoking questions, active engagement and collaboration. Hence my style of working is dialogical and interactive in nature.
ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) is a form of cognitive-behavioural therapy that helps people focus on the present, and move forward from overwhelming and challenging emotions and thoughts.
We do this by diffusing the impact of these emotions and reshaping your negative thinking, and at the same time we focus on moving away from your unhelpful behaviours towards ones based on your personal values and goals.
Integrating existential and cognitive behavioural approaches enables me to tailor-make therapy to your personal needs, hence the style of therapy can be explorative, solution focussed, or management.
I'm a chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with HCPC (Registration No: PYL32160) - and a member of BPS - British Psychological Society (Membership No: 231843).
At the time when therapy seems to be getting more technical and impersonal, I am determined to provide therapy on, what I believe to be, the fundamental principle of therapeutic healing – “Let the client matter to you”.
I put particular emphasis on the importance of a genuine, warm and caring relationship between therapist and client. My clients feel and express that I can tune into their troubles, that I am attentive and challenging yet caring. They say that my style is dynamic and active, engaging and passionate – so more relatable than just expressing sympathy or empathy.
When you work with me, I empower you to take charge of your life and to see the opportunities in your challenges. I deeply believe there is more to therapy than to cure us from our anxiety or sadness. Therapy can also confront us with our possibilities and help us live meaningful and fulfilled lives.
What my clients say
“Life Changing”
“Milena is amazing! My sessions with her have been life changing. She’s thoughtful, caring and so easy to talk to – there is never any judgement in the room.
She seems to know exactly the right things to say to a person to calm them down while being honest and truthful at the same time. I’ve learned so much about myself through her. I highly recommend Milena.”
Michelle
“Wholeheartedly Recommend”
“Milena changed my life! I had tried many other psychologists in the past but had walked away never quite feeling sure if I felt any better. When I first met Milena, five years ago, this completely changed.
She made me feel completely at ease and, to this day, I still feel like I can speak to Milena about anything, free from judgement. It feels like I am speaking to a friend who can provide an impartial view and just happens to be a medical professional!
She has made herself available at times of crisis and has always made it easy to pick up our conversation from session to session. I wholeheartedly recommend her services to anybody that is looking into therapy. You will not regret choosing Milena.”
H Kaur
“Exceptional Support”
“The support and quality of therapy that I received with Milena were exceptional.
Milena’s understanding and extensive knowledge always helped me through challenging times in my life. I can’t be more grateful.”

The standard length of psychological therapy sessions will be 50 minutes at a consultation fee of £120 per session. Sessions are to be paid for in full by cash or bank transfer on the day of the consultation. Please give at least 24 hours notice if you require a cancellation to avoid being charged for the session.
Generally, the course of psychological therapy lasts 10-12 sessions. Some clients may not need as many sessions, whilst others may require many more depending on individual presenting issues.
Should we agree to work together I will advise you how many sessions I believe you need. However, after we devise the treatment plan you are no under obligation to continue with the therapy should you feel it's not of benefit to you. On the other hand, if we complete agreed number of sessions but you want to continue with the therapy you can do so as long as we find it helpful.
For telephone, online and face to face consultations, the full fee will be charged for less than 24 hours’ notice. This policy enables me to offer you flexibility when you need it, as well as recognising that both parties have rights and responsibilities for clear and respectful boundaries to be mutually honoured.
I will always do my best to offer telephone or Zoom consultations in place of sessions, for whatever length of time you require, where unexpected circumstances mean you cannot see me face to face. Or find an alternative time for you to see me face to face, if this is your preference.
Everything you disclose to me will be treated as confidential. This includes emails, texts and my therapy notes. However, there are some exceptions - I have a legal responsibility to inform an appropriate authority should I have reason to believe that you may cause harm to yourself or others. I am also legally required to take my caseload to
supervision, in which your identity will be kept confidential.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on +44 (0)7973 868819 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
All enquiries are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
